Pradeepa is an Environmental Economist who is the Head of Planning and Development of the Guyana Forestry Commission. She has been employed at the Guyana Forestry Commission since 2002, and has held the position of Head of Planning and Development at the GFC for the past 13 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Guyana (2002), a Master’s of Science Degree in Environmental Economics from the University of York, UK (2004), and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School, UK (2008). Prior to 2006, she held the position of Environmental Economist at the GFC.
She has knowledge and experience at the senior management level on areas of project management, trade and economic growth, community and social development, REDD+, and climate policy. She also has experience in managing various sustainable development programmes for the forest sector. Her work has afforded her significant exposure to project design, implementation and management at several international levels including with the EU, ITTO, UNDP, DFID, FAO, WWF, and USAID.
She has actively participated in various efforts centred on fostering international collaboration with Inter Governmental, International and Civil Society partners in various national and community level development programmes. Her involvement has encompassed aspects relating to developing and managing these programmes, and developing synergies among social, economic and environmental aspects.
In supporting this work, she has executed core activities as project coordinator in identifying new projects, securing financing and overseeing implementation of project programme ensuring close synergies with Government policy and key involvement of non-Governmental and civil society partners. In doing so, she has enjoyed a close working relationship with Governmental, non-Governmental and community stakeholders in various roles of negotiation and advocacy.
